The preparation of gur para includes kneading all purpose flour with roasted semolina and milk. They are then covered with butter. This dough is then rolled into thin or thick sheets according to the choice and are cut into a small thread like pieces. These pieces are then deep fried in hot ghee. The flame must be in low to medium so that the inside of the snack is cooked well. Then the puffed and fried snacks are dipped in gur syrup that is prepared with jaggery and water. They both are boiled together till the gur gets dissolved completely and they get a thread consistency. That means the syrup must be thick and sticky so that when the pare are dipped they get coated and they get stuck onto the surface of the para. When they are left for some hours or overnight, they get a crystallised outer coating of this gur. They are stirred occasionally so that they do not get stuck with each other.
