Namak Pare 400g
Definition
Namak Pare is a crunchy Indian snack. It is a ribbon-like pastry seasoned with carom, cumin and caraway seeds. It is deep fried in ghee. This snack is made with wheat flour or all purpose flour. This snack is best had with tea or coffee. It has the perfect proportion of all the ingredients that makes it mouthwatering snack of all time. It can be stored in a clean bottle for months. Semolina can also be added to the dough to make it more crispy. The dough is prepared and rolled into round shapes like roti and chapattis. Then the small pieces are cut in different shapes. This is called 'namak pare' because of the presence of 'namak' that is salt. And pare means snack or pastry. This snack is very popular in northern part of India and Pakistan. In south India also the same snack is made but it is known with other names. It goes extremely well with any kind of pickle and tea. It is always prepared for any festival and functions. There is also a sweet form of this snack. The same snack is prepared without salt and is dipped in a sugar syrup for some time. Then the sugar syrup gets coated on the outer part of the snack and it becomes a sweet snack. The sweet snack is known as ‘sHakkar pare’ where ‘sHakkar’ means ‘sugar’. Both the snacks are the best in their own way. If you taste it once you will get addicted to it soon.
